Anna Lee Blanchard

Anna Lee Blanchard, 86, of Lucerne, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Anna Lee was born on a farm east of Lucerne on May 8, 1934, the daughter of Virgil and Tressie (Oakley) Brundage, who preceded her in death.  She graduated from Newtown (MO) High School in 1951.  She moved to Kansas City, Missouri, after graduation and worked at Hallmark Cards.  Anna Lee married Mikkie K. Blanchard on February 21, 1954, and they had five children together.  Mikkie preceded her in death on December 4, 2007.

Anna Lee was always a friend to the community.  She ran Blanchard’s Café in Lucerne for several years and was also a cook at the Newtown-Harris School. You never went away hungry when you visited the Blanchards’.  Anna Lee’s family was her pride and joy.  The walls of her home were filled with pictures of them. Anna Lee was a member of the Lucerne Christian Church.

Anna Lee is survived by her children: Jodi (David) Brown, Newtown, Missouri, Tim (Sara) Blanchard, Mike (Lisa) Blanchard, and Jim (Jill) Blanchard, all of Lucerne, Missouri, and Teresa (Jeff) Lawhorn of O’Fallon, Missouri. Grandchildren are Robert (Misty) Foster, Mikkie (Philip) Richardson, Chris Smith, Megan (Chris) McBane, Aaron Brown, James (Kristy) Blanchard, Matthew Blanchard, Taren (DavidLee) Lewis, Kyle Blanchard, Andrew (Jordan) Lawhorn, and Zach (Shelby Vermilye) Lawhorn.  Anna Lee’s great grandchildren are Mercedes Foster, Blake (Courtney) Foster, Christopher and Ryan (Kelsey) Coltrain, Josh Banner, Keegan & Khloe Foster, Raiden & Caleb Smith, Grace McBane, Colton, Alexis, Parker, & Case Brown, Katie, Cheyenne, & Samantha Jo Blanchard, Addison & Tucker Lewis, and Noah & Charlie Lawhorn, and her great-great grandchild is Josie Kate Foster.  Anna Lee is also survived by a brother, Finis Brundage of Mill Grove, Missouri, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Others who preceded her in death are in-laws Kleny & Lucille Blanchard, granddaughter Jessica Taylor Blanchard, sister Mardell Valentine, brothers Keith, George & Robert Brundage, sisters-in-law Roylynn, Sue, & Loretta Brundage, brother-in-law Sammy Valentine, nieces Holly Anderson and Jennifer Valentine, and nephew James Hearne.

Funeral services for Anna Lee Blanchard will be at Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Missouri, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 12, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Lucerne Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Lucerne Cemetery or the Lucerne Christian Church and may be entrusted with Playle & Collins Family funeral Home, 709 S. 27 th , Unionville, MO 63565.
