Carlos James West, born on January 22, 1992, was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend who brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered. He passed away on October 8, 2025, leaving a profound impact on the lives of his family and friends.

A proud graduate of Novinger High School in 2011, Carlos had a passion for learning and exploration that found expression in his career with GT Contracting alongside Travis Gray. His commitment to his work mirrored his devotion to his family, who were the heart and soul of his life.

Carlos's love for his children was evident in every interaction he shared with them. He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer West, and their cherished children: Cherish, Cadence, Jaxon, and Callie. Together, they created countless memories that will be treasured forever. His spirit will continue to live on in their laughter and the values he instilled in them.

Carlos was raised in a loving family that included his bio mother, Silvia Ortega of Mexico, and his stepmother, Rose West of Novinger, Missouri. He was also blessed with the support of his adoptive parents, Kevin and Kelly Baird, who nurtured his growth and character. He shared a special bond with his siblings: Yazmin Ramirex, Alberto Hernandez, Joana Ortega, Javier Fueda, Leslie Carmona, and Carol (Mickey) Kamer, Tammy Gillispie, Alvin Shepard, Brian Gillispie, Chazz White, Brandon Baird, Chanler Baird, Chayton Baird, Kadace Baird, Kierra Baird, Kastacia Baird, Kedriana Baird, Chaxton Baird, Kaleigha Baird, Chandrick Baird, and Chamberlin Baird, all of whom brought extra affection and connection into his life. He is also survived by his mother and father in laws, Karen and Jeremy March. 

He also leaves behind a loving extended family, including brothers-in-law Jimmy McKim, Kenny March, and Kristina March, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, each of whom he treasured dearly.

Carlos's adventurous spirit shone through in his hobbies. He delighted in fishing and mushroom hunting, and he found solace in playing guitar and crafting model airplanes. These pastimes were not just personal joys; they were opportunities for him to share quality time with his children, creating lasting bonds and cherished memories.

He was predeceased by his son, Jesse James West, and his father, Carl James West. Their absence will forever be felt, but Carlos's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to family will endure.

To honor and celebrate the impactful life of Carlos James West, visitation will be held on October 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM at Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, located at 2100 E Shepherd Ave, Kirksville, Missouri, 63501. Following the service there will be a potluck held at the Family Center, all that are planning to attend is encouraged to bring a covered dish. 

In the hearts of those he loved, Carlos will always be remembered as a great guy who loved his kids and embraced life with open arms. His spirit will continue to inspire us all to cherish each moment and live life to the fullest.
