Curtis Ray Hays

Curtis Ray Hays was born June 21, 1962 in Kirksville, Missouri to Clifford and Kay (Ray) Hays. He died suddenly at home on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

He lived in Kirksville until May of 1970 when he moved to Grain Valley, Missouri with his family. He graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1980. He was a deck builder in Kansas City and owned his own business before retiring in 2015 and moving back to the Kirksville area. Curtis loved all animals (especially his cats), music, cards, and having a good time.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Tanna; his father, Clifford Hays of Grain Valley, MO; his stepdaughter, Samantha Reames (Darren) Brown of Creighton, MO; his stepson, Quincy Reames of Kirksville; three brothers, Greg (Terri) Hays of Lone Jack, MO, Scott (Cindy) Hays of Grain Valley, MO, and Doug (Dixie) Hays of Blue Springs, MO; his sister, Carla (Jeff) Kloeppel of Blue Springs, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kay Hays, and grandparents, Hallie and Ruth Ray of Green Castle and Frank and Elizabeth Hays of Adair County.

There will be an open visitation from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at the Pratt Cemetery, west of Kirksville, Missouri.

Memorials in memory of Curtis are suggested to the Adair County Humane Society.
