Kirksville

Debra Jean Goins, affectionately known as Debby, was born on May 7, 1954, in Peoria, Illinois. She departed from this world on January 20, 2026, in Kirksville, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, warmth, and countless cherished memories.

Debby made her mark in the community as an attendant at Creve Coeur Coin Wash in Creve Coeur, IL, and later as a cook at Sodexo at Truman State University, in Kirksville, MO. Her role as a cook provided her with the unique opportunity to share her love for food with students. Her caring nature touched many lives, and she embraced her role in the kitchen with a passion that resonated deeply with everyone around her.

The joy Debby brought during the holiday season will forever remain a treasured memory for her family. Christmas mornings were filled with beauty and perfection; the tree was always adorned flawlessly with twinkling tinsel, and presents were wrapped meticulously with beautiful bows, making each Christmas morning a time of excitement and joy. Shopping trips with her and ice cream outings became special rituals that painted the canvas of her family's happiness.

A talented cook and wonderful baker, Debby was known for her generous spirit, especially during the festive season. She would fill her home with a delightful array of pastries and treats, blessing her friends and former coworkers at Sodexo with her baked goodies. Each bite carried not just flavor but also the essence of Debby's love and devotion.

Debby's loving personality was evident in everything she did, and she cherished her relationships with her family and friends deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Darin) Sayers of Pekin, IL, her brother David (Marita) Wytcherley of Richland Hills, TX, and her sister Beverly Karstensen of Morton, IL. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Emma, Alissa, Ryne, Dylan, and Carter Sayers, all of Pekin, IL, who will carry forward the lessons of love and kindness she instilled in them. Longtime dear friend Dorothy Hudall, whom she met during her time at Sodexo, along with several other cherished friends, will hold Debby in their hearts forever.

Debby is now reunited with those who left this world before her, including her husband, John Goins, her parents, Shirley and Wayne Wytcherley, and her brother, Wayne Wytcherley Jr.

Debby Jean Goins will be remembered not just for her kindness and warm spirit but for how she made each individual feel valued and loved. She leaves behind a legacy that will serve as a reminder of what it means to truly care for one another, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
