Donald George Weichelt, 86 of Novinger, MO passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Born on January 25, 1939, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to George and Frieda (Ehrike) Weichelt, Don graduated from Stratford High School in 1957.
In 1960, Don married Annette (Miller) Weichelt and honeymooned on a three-month road trip to Alaska. Upon returning, they farmed in the township of McMillan, WI until 1991, when they moved to a farm in northeast Missouri. Don enjoyed woodworking, hunting, working at the golf course, playing cards, talking to people, and being outside. Don was a member of the Kirksville Church of Christ where he enjoyed going to church with Annette.
Don & Annette were married for 65 years blessed with six kids, eight grandkids, and three great-grandkids with a fourth on the way. He will be greatly missed by his family. Children: Jerry (Lisa) Weichelt, Amy (Todd) Settimo, Wesly (Candi) Weichelt, John Weichelt, and Joe Weichelt. Grandchildren: Jeremy (Tammy) Quirt, Michelle (Austin) Karl, Todd (Alanna) Weichelt, Kari Weichelt, Jordan (Priscilla) Weichelt, Cody (Ramey) Weichelt, Sarah Settimo, Emily (Crosbie) Jarrett. Great – grandchildren: Paisley Quirt, Denver Weichelt, and Anna Weichelt.
He is survived by his brother Norman (Lucille) Weichelt.
Emmet Peterson is a dear family friend and was one of Don's hunting buddies.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Frieda (Ehrike) Weichelt, and son Todd Weichelt.
A visitation in honor of Don will take place on September 28, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, located at 2100 E Shepherd Ave, Kirksville, MO 63501. Following the service there will be a potluck at the Kirksville Church of Christ at 110 Pfeiffer Ave, Kirksville, MO 63501.
A burial will take place at 11am on October 3, 2025, at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield, WI with a lunch to follow.
