Dorothy F. Stone

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy F. Stone has news of her passing. Dorothy F. Stone, 86 of Jacksonville, FL (previously Kirksville) passed away Monday, October 28th, 2024 at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, FL.

The daughter of Joe and Willie (Moore) Brown, Dorothy was born November 28th, 1937 in Crockett, TX. On December 30th, 1966 in Bryan, TX, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bob Stone.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Roger K. Stone, Reginald C. Stone, Kristopher J. Stone, and Bradford L. Stone; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Jo Ann Brown, and one granddaughter, Erin R. Stone.

Dorothy grew up in Texas. Her family moved often until she settled in Bryan, Texas. Dorothy and Bob moved to Kirksville in 1970. She lived in Kirksville until after Bob’s passing where she moved to Jacksonville to be closer to family. She worked at AAA Travel Agency for years and was a lifelong member of the Faith United Methodist church where she taught Sunday school and helped in any way she could. She enjoyed sewing, attending bible studies, watching movies and cooking for holidays. She especially loved her family, and all the time spent with them. She was loving, compassionate, kind, selfless, and had unconditional love.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 7th, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Kirksville, MO with Pastor Raymond Magruder officiating. Burial will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. and the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dementia Society of America.
