Douglas Alexander, 62, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at St. Francis Health Care in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The son of Martin and Anne Alexander he was born July 1, 1960, in Joliet, Illinois. In 1968 at the age of eight he and his family moved to Queen City, Missouri, where he grew up and attended school. Graduating from Schuyler R-I in 1978. Doug lived about 30 years of his adult life in Kirksville, Missouri. In 2018 Doug joined the Salvation Army Kirksville Corps Church and became a Salvation Army Soldier.
Doug is survived by his mother, Anne; his twin brother, David Alexander and wife Carol of Troy, MO; his sister, Louise Shaw and husband Rick of DeSoto, MO; aunts, uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Alexander and his grandparents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday morning (February 20, 2023) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Lieutenant Brian Hoscheit officiating. Burial will be in the New Harmony Cemetery west of Greentop, MO.
Pallbearers will be Salvation Army Soldiers.
Visitation will be after noon Sunday (February 19, 2023) with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO.
Memorials are suggested to The Salvation Army Kirksville Corps.
