Emmabelle Fast, age 93, passed away January 17, 2024 at Country Aire Retirement Estate. She was born in Oakwood, OK, November 3, 1930, the daughter of Oscar and Ethel (Green) England.
Surviving are three children, Dawn Bunfill of Edina, MO, Darell Faust of Quincy, IL, and Debbie (Donald) Cowans of Leavenworth, KS. Four grandchildren, Kimberly (Robbie Mauck) Miller of Ewing, MO, Kent (Nicole) Sedelmeier of Oceanside, CA, Ryan (Shannon) Faust of Cave Springs, AR, and Shane Sedelmeier of Bonner Springs, KS. Seven great grandchildren, Erica (Trey Olson) Miller of Oak Grove, KY, Logan Miller of Knox City, MO, Hope (Carter Hinkle) of Edina, MO, Tristan and Eliana Sedelmeier of Oceanside, CA, Wyatt and Madeline Faust of Cave Springs, AR. One great great grandchild, Lilly Olson of Oak Grove, KY.
Emmabelle was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Alice VanWinkle, and her husband, Clayton Fast.
She lived on the homestead farm in Oakwood, OK until her parents moved to Missouri, near Hurdland. She finished getting her B.S. in education at Kirksville State Teachers College (Truman) in 1952. In November of 1951, the neighbors son, Clayton Fast came home from serving in Korea. Emmabelle and Clayton were married July 5, 1953 in Reydon, OK.
Emmabelle taught her first class in Des Moines, IA. When she and Clayton were married they moved to Colorado, then New Mexico where she taught on two Navajo Indian reservations. They moved back to Missouri in 1962 where she taught special education, 4th grade and 7th grade until her retirement.
Emmabelle and Clayton loved to travel and camp which they did until Clayton passed away in 2010. Emmabelle loved her children and grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them.
She was baptized and accepted Jesus while in Farmington. NM. In her later years she became a member of Edina Assembly of God Church
She was loved and will be missed by her family.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Edina Assembly Of God Church in Edina, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Brian Burton. Music will be “It Is Well With My Soul” (slideshow), “Jesus Hold My Hand” (video) “The Old Rugged Cross” (Pastor Brian & Rhonda Burton). Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, MO (Interment will be at a later date).
