Eugene “Douglas” Penn, born March 16, 1966, passed away at his home, on October 24, 2026. He will be remembered with deep love by all who knew him as a man of generous spirit, steady presence, and remarkable ability. A true jack of all trades, Douglas was known as someone who could fix anything but the TV, and he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, willing to help anyone.
Douglas enjoyed life’s simple and meaningful moments. He enjoyed tinkering, gardening, fishing, and stargazing with his wife, Amanda, and he valued time spent with the people he loved. He was a quiet and steady presence wherever he went.
Douglas was a faithful attendee at Landmark Pentecostal Church, where he was recently baptized in the name of Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38, on June 6, 2026. That experience was an important moment in his spiritual journey and made a difference in his life over the past few months.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda Penn; his mother, Margie Penn; children, Bradley Penn, Katie (and Ethan) Hardin, Alicia (and Rick) Green, Brianna (and Andy) Newkirk, Britney Martin, and Kail Martin; siblings, Carla Casey and her husband Mike, Laurie-Ann Penn, and Chad Penn
Also surviving are his grandchildren: Katelynn, Isaac, Stuart, Dylan, Blaire, Bentley, Andrew, Noah, Kennedy, Scottie Marie, Sawyer, Aria, Bella, and Greyson. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Angela Corbin, Brittny Casey, Misty Rouse, Destiny Nelson, Justice Nelson (and Renee), Austin Penn, Tatum Klenke, Easton Klenke, Adian Gangler, Ethan Kemph, Saige Manous, and Brailie Manous.
He was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Kado Newkirk; his father, Clarence Stewart; his nannie-in-law, Helen Hayes; his mother-in-law, Judy Simmons; uncles, Joey Parrish and Gary Parrish; and aunt, Barbara Jean West.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 28, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Landmark Pentecostal Church, 2302 N Lincoln St, Kirksville, Missouri 63501.
Douglas will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for his willing hands, his giving heart, his devotion to his wife and family, and the quiet ways he made life better for those around him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Landmark Pentecostal Church for a fund set up for his wife Amanda.
