Jamie Glen Tarpein

July 26, 1976 — June 10, 2026

Jamie Glen Tarpein, age 49, of Kirksville, Missouri and formerly of Gas City/Jonesboro, Indiana, entered into his heavenly voyage June 10, 2026 after a lengthy hard fought battle of Heart Failure with loving family by his side.

Born July 26, 1976 to his parents Terry W. Tarpein and Sandra K. Tarpein, Jamie spent his youth in the Kirksville school district and was a graduate of the Kirksville High School class of 1994. Spending many of his early years at iconic Kirksville establishments such as Pancake City, Too Talls Two, and Ailerons as a Cook. Later after developing a passion for body piercing, Jamie began working at Why Not Tat2's in 1998 and then after relocating to Indiana at Custom Skin Tattoo and Delta Ink, where all together he would dedicate over 24 years of his life being a highly sought legend of a piercer that always loved to help others express themselves through their choice of body art.

At a very early age Jamie would choose to walk his path of life to the beat of his own heart's drum. As a child Jamie would love to wear superhero costumes, developed a love for collecting toys and action figures, a lover of horror movies and themes so much so, that he thought every day should be Halloween. Covered in body ink, before it was the cool thing to do, a artistic poet, and a devout music enthusiast and human jukebox with the widest range of music genres you would ever know, an avid concert goer, as music not only fueled him but spoke to him in many ways, a collector of colored vinyl, and often described as a good dude with a big heart with the most captivating blue eyes. Often being a quick witted jokester with a boisterous laugh and the best one liners you would ever hear, always using the word Cricker as a absolute form of endearment, a rare gem with the ability to make lifelong friends wherever he would go, a gentle soul that would be such a giver to others in need and most definitely the greatest anomaly of a punk rocker that you would ever meet. To know Jamie, you could not help but adore and love him and want to be a misfit too.

When his health started failing, Jamie tried to live each day to its fullest, knowing that tomorrow wasn't promised. Never a real complainer, (except for his sister's cooking), determined to make the most of his situation and what time he was given. With some of his greatest joys being time spent with his beloved family, friends, grandkids, and especially Valentina and Simon (aka Donkey) that brought a sparkle to his eye. Sliding into the gates of heaven, prepared to meet his maker, glancing back at a life well loved and lived, doing things his way each step of the way, with acknowledgement that his greatest achievements and titles would be that of Dad, Grandpa, Son, Brother, Nephew, Cousin and Friend. Jamie was a one of a kind soul rocker that will be forever deeply loved, never forgotten and sadly missed by many.

Survived by his two Beloved Sons Sam (Dora) Tarpein and Jack Tarpein of Jonesboro, Indiana, Cherished Grand Children Valentina, Lazaro, and Jovanni Tarpein of Jonesboro, Indiana. Loving Mother Sandra Tarpein of Kirksville, MO, Devoted Sister Dawn Tarpein Bruner of Kirksville, MO and several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

Preceded in death most recently by his Father Terry W. Tarpein and Brother- in Law Adam Bruner.

Jamie has been cremated with a Celebration of Life service to be held July 25, 2026 at 7 pm at Club One in Kirksville and with a later date to be determined in Gas City, Indiana.
