Janice Kay Jones

Janice K. Jones, 80, of Missouri, passed away on June 7, 2025. Born on September 28, 1944, to Lafe and Lucille (Walters) Hocker, Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose legacy will live on in the lives she touched.

Janice graduated from Novinger High School in 1962 and married the love of her life, Dennis Jones, on May 26, 1963. Together they built a life rooted in love and family. They were blessed with four daughters: Twila (Don) Greathouse of Greencastle, Tammy (Terry) Martin of Novinger, Teresa (John) Daniels of Richmond, and Traci Busker of Fayette.

Janice was immensely proud of her 13 grandchildren; Mandy Hanlin, Mike Mahurin, Austin Martin, Courtney May, Megan Greer, Emma Daniels, Lathan Busker, Kyle Busker, Amanda White, Vanessa Cummings, Matt Greathouse, Brett Greathouse, and Adam Greathouse, and her 26 great-grandchildren, along with three great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her brother, Irshel (Sondra) Hocker; sister-in-law Sandy Jones; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis; her brothers Ronnie and Larry Hocker; her son-in-law Terry Busker; grandsons Joel Martin and Mike Greathouse; and her brother-in-law Randall Jones.

Janice worked as a secretary for Novinger School and later with Westlakes and International Eye Care. She was known for her kindness, her dedication to family, and her unwavering support for her loved ones. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cheering them on at every game, event, and celebration.

A true Cardinals baseball fan, Janice especially loved pitcher Adam Wainwright. She also enjoyed country music, with a special fondness for Alan Jackson.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Playle Rimer Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Kirksville, Missouri.

Funeral services will take place Tuesday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the same location, with burial to follow at Parkview Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers: Mike Mahurin, Austin Martin, Lathan Busker, Kyle Busker, Terry Martin, Don Greathouse, John Daniels, and Danny Hocker.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ashton, Aden, Aaren Snider, Dylan Baker, Elijah Baker, Bentley Search, and Logan Greer.

The family encourages everyone to honor Janice’s memory by attending a ballgame, singing along to your favorite country song, or simply spending time with the people you love, just as she always did.
