Queen City

Jerry Dooley, a cherished member of the Queen City community, passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2026, after a brave two-year battle with lung cancer. Born on October 23, 1951, in Kirksville, Missouri, Jerry's life was characterized by his quiet, fun-loving personality, which endeared him to all who knew him.

Jerry's education journey began at Schuyler County R-I school, followed by a brief attendance at the University of Missouri and Trenton Jr. College. He dedicated many years of his life to working as a factory worker.

A man of many interests, Jerry found joy in various hobbies that reflected his passion for sports and the outdoors. He was an avid supporter of the San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Cardinals, and his athletic abilities shone through during his high school years, where he lettered in both basketball and baseball. Over the years, Jerry enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball and spent countless hours hunting. He delighted in deer, geese, and turkey hunting, and was known for his fierce love of his dogs, companions who brought him great joy. Jerry also loved a good game of stud poker or pitch.

He is survived by his twin brother, Terry (Vickie) Dooley of Green Valley, Arizona, and his younger brother, John (Lisa) Dooley of Shorewood, Illinois. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his nieces and nephew, Kim (John), Amy, Tara (Donnie), Christine and Josh.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Dooley and Mauretta West, and his sister, Linda Conner. Jerry's remarkable spirit and love for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jerry's legacy will be honored during visitation services at Dooley Funeral Home located at 711 Washington St, Queen City, MO, 63561, on February 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. An interment in Queen City Cemetery will follow.
