Karen Sue (Mathes) Slaughter

Karen Sue Slaughter, 74, of Queen City, Missouri, passed away on September 1, 2026. Born on July 30, 1952, she was the beloved daughter of the late Harold David and Norma (Kramer) Mathes.

Karen lived a life full of warmth, connection, and adventure. She deeply cherished her family and friends, and she held a special place in her heart for animals. Whether she was spending quiet time with her loved ones or packing up for a road trip, Karen embraced life with enthusiasm. She especially loved traveling, most notably taking trips to Colorado for West Fest to enjoy country music alongside her dearest family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Slaughter; her children, Michael and Tara; and her stepchildren, Wendy Dessert and her husband Michael, Rachel Dudley and her husband Stephen, and Austin Slaughter and his wife Melissa, along with nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren . She is also survived by her loving sisters, Pamela Williamson, Tammy Kerby, and Teresa J. Mathes, as well as four nieces and nephews, and an extended circle of family members and friends who will miss her bright spirit dearly.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her stepdaughter, Christy Smyser.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City, Missouri. Funeral services will immediately follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund.
