Lonnie Verl Osborn

Apr 5, 1939 — Oct 27, 2026

Lonnie Verl Osborn, 87, passed away on October 27, 2026. He was born on April 5, 1939 to Lloyd and Clella (Coffman) Osborn.

Lonnie spent his childhood years in the Elmer, Missouri area before moving to Brashear, and he lived most of his life in the Brashear community. He was a 1957 graduate of Brashear High School where just a few years later he married the love of his life Sandra (Milstead) Osborn. He was dedicated to making sure the community was taken care of, and that spirit could be seen throughout the many roles he held over the years.

For 11 years, Lonnie and the family lived in Canton, Missouri, where he served as the city superintendent. He returned to Brashear to manage the Heetco Gas Company for several years. In 1985, he built the Willowbend Convenience Store in Brashear, a place that is still a staple in the community. He kept Willowbend Convenience Store open 365 days a year to serve others, and the store remained family-owned and operated for 30 years. His steady work and devotion left a lasting mark on Brashear and on the many people whose daily lives were touched by his care and dependability.

Lonnie found great joy in feeding wildlife, especially his birds, fishing when time allowed, enjoying a fresh cup of coffee, and was dedicated to the process of recycling. His most valued time was spent with his family, attending his grandchildren's events, and serving his community. He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.

Above all, Lonnie will be remembered by those who loved him as a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sandra Kay Osborn; his children, Jeff (Lisa) Osborn of Brashear, Missouri, Ginger Osborn Cooper of Carthage, Illinois, and Matt (Debra) Osborn of Kirksville, Missouri; his grandchildren, Justin (Maria) Osborn, Jared (Jessica) Osborn, Kristin (Alex) Nelson, and Amber (Tim) Parrish; his great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jayden, Adasyn, Ethan, Kheegan, Gracie, Gage, Gara, George, and Finley; his sister, Marlene Lay; his brother, Ronnie Osborn; his sisters-in-law, Donna Brewer and Toni Milstead; his brother-in-law, Monte (Jean) Milstead, a number of nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Eileen Bradley. The love of his family, and the life they built together, stands as a lasting part of his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Sidney (Peggy) Osborn and Buck (Vi) Osborn, his sister and brother-in-law, Delores (Harold) Aaron, and sister-in-law Belva Osborn.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on November 5, 2026, at the Brashear Cemetery, Highway 6 East, Brashear, Missouri.

Lonnie will be remembered with affection and gratitude for a life spent serving his community and caring for his family. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. If there was one quote that summarized Lonnie, it would be, "Do all the good you can, for as many as you can, for as long as you can."

Donations in Lonnie’s memory are suggested to the Brashear United Methodist Church or the Brashear Cemetery.
