Margaret Anne DeVito, a cherished soul who touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in Kirksville, Missouri, at the age of 90. Born on October 7, 1934, in Corydon, Iowa, Margaret lived a life rich with love, kindness, and unwavering strength.
Margaret was a proud alumna of Truman State University, where she forged lifelong friendships and gathered invaluable experiences that shaped her vibrant spirit. Her academic endeavors were just one aspect of a multifaceted life that included a deep commitment to her family and friends.
Margaret's heart, however, belonged first and foremost to her beloved family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel DeVito, a partnership that exemplified love, support, and companionship through all of life's trials and tribulations. Margaret also grieved the loss of her cherished daughter, Angela DeVito, and her dear parents, whose guidance and love laid the foundations for the woman she became.
She was a realtor in Kirksville for many years. She also satisfied her passion for antiques by owning and operating several antique malls and shops in the Kirksville area, including Wood Rail Antiques Mall and My Favorite Memories. She continued buying and selling antiques at the Weathervane in Macon, Missouri, until the time of her passing. Margaret's love for the antiques business spanned 75 years.
A loving presence, Margaret left behind many to mourn her, including good friends Roger Bethel and Kathy Rieck, who shared countless memories and moments of joy alongside her. Together, they created a tapestry of shared laughter, support, and unwavering camaraderie that enriched their lives.
