Mary Catherine (Reeves) Stansberry, 89, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. She was born on February 8, 1935 in Rockdale, CO to Owen and Laura Lillian (Hotchkiss) Reeves. On October 2, 1954 she was united in marriage to Richard Clarence Stansberry and to this union five children were born.
Mary is survived by her sons: Richard Joseph Stansberry (Jeanne), Ligonier, IN and Bruce Allen Stansberry, Loxley, AL. She is also survived by her daughter, Susan Michelle Rogers (Ron), Kirksville two daughters-in-law, Brenda Stansberry, Edina, MO and Karla Stansberry, Kirksville and 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
She is also survived by her Step-mother, Mary E. Reeves, eight brothers; Harold Reeves, Charles ‘Pete’ Reeves (Paulette), Thomas Reeves (Carolyn), Jerry Reeves (Janice), David Reeves, Matt Reeves (Cheryl), Mark Reeves (Traci) and Mike Shirley (Carol); five sisters, Bertha Spencer (Charles), Sally Robinson (Garland), Nancy Hunolt, Dolly Tonkinson, and Sandy Muir (Jerry), and one sister-in-law, Nita (Owen) Reeves and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard; sons, Ronald Stansberry and Faaron Stansberry. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Owen W. Reeves Jr., Danny Shirley and Stanley Reeves, in infancy; sisters; Doris June Hettinger and Naomi Ruth Wagner.
Mary was a homemaker and loved being with her family. She had an outgoing personality and would visit with anyone. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games on TV. Mary and her sister Naomi used to sing in harmony for fun.
Mary was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 7th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.
Funeral Arrangements are in the care of Playle-Rimer-Millard Funeral Chapel.
