Patty Sue (Spencer) Thrasher, CCC-SLP

Patty Sue Thrasher, 73 of Galt, Missouri passed away – moving on to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Patty was born in Milan, Missouri on September 13, 1951. She the was the fourth of six daughters of Edward “Earl” and Georgia Myrtle (Clark) Spencer

She joined Mt. Tabor Primitive Baptist Church near Hurdland, Missouri on December 24, 1961. Patty graduated from Knox County High School in 1969. On February 14, 1971 she married Alan Paul Thrasher.

Patty worked at the family’s business - Thrasher’s Feed Store - two days per week until she returned to college, also before she returned to college Patty served the local Grundy R-5 school system for 2 years at the PTO president.

She got her 2-year associates degree from Trenton Junior College graduation in 1989. She then went on to complete her Bachelors degree in Speech and Language Pathology at NorthEast Missouri State University (NMSU) in Kirksville 1991 and continuing on with her Masters also in Speech and Language Pathology at NMSU at 1993. She was a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) which was the professional association over seeing her certifications (CCC-SLP).

Patty’s first job upon embarking on her new career was at the Braymer School System in Braymer, Missouri. In the years to follow Patty worked with many clients both young and old. She worked for FirstSteps in North Central Missouri, she worked contacts with several nursing homes working with elderly patients, she worked for many years at the Verelle Peniston State School, in Chillicothe, Missouri. All the while, through many of those years Patty also kept a professional private practice office in Trenton, MO where she also worked with many small children over the years, often in addition to the other places she was providing services.

Patty loved God, her church, her family and her work over the years all very much, but a few of the other things she truly enjoyed were baking, reading books and planting flowers and trees, working jigsaw puzzles and playing solitaire.

Patty served as clerk to Mt. Tabor Church for 25 years.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents; her father- and mother-in-law, Sterling & Velda (Axtell) Thrasher and her sister Pam Stokes; her brother-in-law Alvin Henderson; and brother-in-law Ronnie Talbert.

Patty is survived by three children, Michele (Keith) Meidling of Ashburn, VA, Matthew (Amy) Thrasher and Melanie Goddard and by four grandchildren, Mindi Goddard, Noah Thrasher, Joshua Thrasher and Gracelyn Thrasher; four sisters: Bonnie Henderson, Beverly Talbert, Charlotte and David Parrish, Marsha and Brian Harp; brother-in-law Kent Stokes.

Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 2025, from 1:00PM-3:00PM.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 8, 2025, at 3:00PM - with pastor, Elder Alan Curtis and Elder Bruce Jackson officiating

Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Hurdland, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Tabor Primitive Baptist Church.
