Ralph Kenneth Dromey, age 76, of Taylor, Missouri, a loving husband, beloved grandfather, and caring father, passed away on June 3, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. Born on November 20, 1948, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Virgil and Zoa (Malone) Dromey who preceded him in death.
He completed his education in the Knox County Schools at Edina, Mo. He worked diligently at Gully Transportation in Quincy, IL for a combined total of 41 years before retiring on May 8, 2025. His strong work ethic and dedication left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working alongside him. He had previously worked at Gardner Denver in Quincy, IL and Floresheim Shoe Company in Kirksville, MO.
Ralph married his beloved wife, Rosann Susan Meeker, on March 3, 1969 in Cassopolis, Michigan, with whom he shared countless memories in their 56 years of marriage. He cherished their relationship deeply, a testament to a union built on love, respect, and shared family life experiences.
Ralph was of the Catholic faith. Growing up he was involved in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, MO.
He had a deep love and dedication for his family, a love that continued on as he became a grandfather. He enjoyed working on automobiles and sharing his knowledge with all that knew him. He enjoyed working beside his children teaching them everything he knew about mechanics. He loved tractors tremendously but specifically Oliver tractors. He was known affectionately for his jokes and stories that he had to share. Ultimately, he enjoyed most, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind his four daughters and one son: Kimberly Duschel of Pasadena, Maryland; Kristene Koss of Republic, Missouri; Kathleen Johnson of Palmyra, Missouri; Karen Dromey of Quincy, Illinois; and Kevin (Emily) Dromey of Quincy, Illinois.
Ralph adored his grandchildren, Courtney Balta, Joshua Gallaher, Brenden Gallaher, Matthew Duschel, Aaron Newcomb, Kaylee Johnson, Rose Dromey, and a grandson due in September that he was anxiously awaiting his arrival. They treasure their fond childhood memories spent with their grandfather and will carry his teachings and love in their hearts.
Also surviving are his brothers, Charles Dromey of Novelty, Missouri, and Robert (Mary Ann) Dromey of Kirksville, Missouri; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Roy Meeker of Greentop, Missouri, Reta (Sam) Thomas of Greentop, Missouri, and Ruth (David) Cunningham of Kirksville, Missouri, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to partake in the celebration of Ralph's life. Funeral services will be held at the Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Kirksville, Missouri, on June 9, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the service begins at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri.
Pall Bearers will be Kevin Dromey, Chris Cunningham, Denver Cunningham, Blake Whittom, Mikel Meeker, Michael Mathes, Rick Ellis, and Tyson Kirkpatrick.
Ralph was a man who loved deeply and lived fully. His legacy will continue through the family he adored and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and genuine spirit. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Memorials in his honor may be left to his family.
