Richard "Dick" Wayne Parsons

Richard "Dick" Wayne Parsons, born on September 20, 1943, in Kirksville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home in Kirksville on 14, 2025. He a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose love for his family formed the foundation of his life.

Richard’s professional journey began after graduating from Kirksville High School, where he dedicated 35 years of his life working at Floorsheim in Kirksville. Following his retirement, he continued to contribute to the community through 12 years of service at Walmart in Kirksville. His strong work ethic and commitment to his jobs earned him the respect and admiration of many who had the pleasure to work alongside him.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Richard proudly served in the guard, reflecting his spirit of service and dedication to his country.

He was a man of many interests, with a deep passion for hunting and fishing. Richard loved spending quality time with his family, creating cherished memories during family camping trips. His family was always the center of his world, and he took immense pride in being a father and husband, a title he held as his proudest accomplishment.

Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Ida (Moncrief) Parsons, and his sons, Michael (Shirley) Parsons of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Jeff (Ginger) Parsons of Milan, MO. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Lori (Kevin) Burnes of Kirksville, MO, and Tina Lowe of Columbia, MO, along with his brother Ronald (Linda) Parsons from Kirksville, MO. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Tyler (Alyssa) Parsons, Jordan Parsons, Lorenda (Joe) Roberts, Craig (Stephaine) Parsons, Shelby Parsons, Cameron (Melody) Burnes, Kaylee (Ben) Western, Cassidy (Alyssa) Starbuck, and Kenley Burnes, and he also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mabel Parsons.

A visitation with family will be held on September 27, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM, at Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel located at 2100 E Shepherd Ave, Kirksville, MO 63501. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to Compassus Hospice, in honor of the of the Parson's family. 

Richard Wayne Parsons will be deeply missed by his family and friends, whose lives he touched with laughter, kindness, and unwavering love. His memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
