Richard Dean Harrison, born on October 9, 1936, in Burlington, IA, passed away on September 21, 2025. Richard had a deep appreciation for life and an enduring love for the people around him. He graduated from high school in Hurdland, MO in 1955 and served his country honorably in the Air Force.

Richard enjoyed a fulfilling career as a truck driver, concluding his professional journey with retirement from the Teamsters. He was known for his friendly demeanor and for his genuine love of people, which extended to those around him, including his cherished community at the Fellowship Baptist Church.

In addition to his devotion to work and faith, Richard delighted in spending time with his family. He found joy in hanging out with his sons and visiting gun shops, engaging in activities that brought him closer to loved ones. His role as a father and grandfather was one he cherished deeply, proud of the legacy he built with each generation.

Richard is survived by his sons: David (Becky) Harrison, Mike (Tammy) Knapp, Jeff (Kim) Harrison, Darren (Missy) Harrison, and T.J. (Sabrina) Harrison. He was also supported by his siblings: brothers Robert (Sharon) Harrison, Ronald (Diana) Harrison, Russell (Linda) Harrison, Roger (Teri) Harrison, and sister Betty (Leroy) Hanneken; Richard's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Machenzie Harrison, Mathias (Emily) Harrison, Taylor (Savannah) Harrison, Sydney Harrison, Tim (Beth) Knapp, Danielle (Nathan) Frere, Austin (Katie) Harrison, Kallista Harrison, and Britney Harrison. His great-grandchildren, Kayden, Huxton, Peyton, Cameron, Violet, and Penelope, were a source of immense pride for him. He is also survived by special friends Bev LaCost and Kristi Delaney; who was like a daughter to him.

Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Francie Harrison; his parents, Otis and Eva Harrison; and his sister, Bonnie Kienlen.

A visitation is scheduled for September 26, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM, both to be held at Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, located at 2100 E Shepherd Ave, Kirksville, MO 63501. Friends and family are invited to gather as they celebrate Richard's life and the meaningful connections he fostered throughout his journey.
