Roy Franklin Thompson, 82, passed away August 17, 2023 in his home with his family by his side.
He was born January 24,1941 in Chippewa Kinross Township, MI. He was the son of late Elmer and Josephine (Howes) Thompson.
Roy was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Clifton Thompson in July 1960, who preceded him in death. He is survived by one brother, Lee Thompson of Rudyard, MI. Also 5 daughters, Sherrie and spouse Jim Davidson of Kirksville, MO, Patricia and spouse David Blankenship of Galena, MO, Barbara Thompson of Willow Creek, CA, Tina and spouse Kelvin Hoffman of Atlanta, MO, and Suzan Thompson of Salyer, CA. He has 17 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Roy attended the Rudyard School in Michigan and received his education while in the Navy, serving on the USS Roosevelt as an air traffic controller.
He was employed by Kewanee and Donaldsons, along with other miscellaneous jobs. After retiring he owned a small recycling business.
He enjoyed hunting, reading, going to auctions, collecting pocket knives, and spending time with his family.
Roy's wish was to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
