Shirley Ann Moncrief

Shirley Ann Moncrief, 71, of Queen City, MO, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 20, 1953, in Unionville, MO, the daughter of William and Violet (Handley) Howard. Shirley attended school in Green City, MO.

On August 2, 1994, in Queen City, MO, she was united in marriage to Leon Ferrell he proceeded her in death on January 16, 1997. She later married Francis Moncrief on November 22, 1997, in La Plata, MO; he preceded her in death on November 5, 1999.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Norman) Poe of Ottumwa, IA; brothers Robert Howard of Laredo, MO, Richard Howard of Green City, MO, and Kenneth Howard of Kirksville, MO; and her sister, Fleta (Terry) Michael of Milan, MO. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Linda Howard of Heavener, OK, and Tina Howard of Milan, MO, and a special sister-in-law, Peggy Howard of Novinger, MO, along with two grandchildren, Megan and Brandon. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends, including a special friend, Joyce Schoonover of Queen City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers William, Harold, Duane, Wayne, and Raymond; her sisters Ada and Dorothy; sister-in-law Edie; and brother-in-law Wayne.

Shirley was a member of the Queen City Christian Church. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for others through her work at Pyramid Home Health Services. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation receiving friends and family will be held on Friday, August 22, from 5:00-7:00pm, with funeral services the following day at 11:00am, at the Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City, MO. Memorials may be left at the funeral home for the family.
