Suzanne "Zan" Phillips

Suzanne “Zan” Collier Phillips passed away at the Pines on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Suzanne was born October 14, 1952 in Kirksville, MO, the daughter of Bruce and Carol Collier. She attended Kirksville public schools and graduated from Kirkville High School in 1970. She attended University of Missouri and received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1973 continuing her education in genetics. It was there that she met her husband Ron Phillips.

Suzanne and Ron were married on June 8th, 1974. Suzanne began her teaching career at Harrisburg High School in the biology department, in Harrisburg, Missouri in 1975. They moved to Wichita, KS in 1978 and Suzanne took a job teaching Biology at Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School. Together they moved to Kirksville in 1981 for Ron to start his medical practice. Suzanne was always active in her community including serving on the Kirkville School Board and volunteering with the Tigers Booster Club on top of being a domestic engineer.

Mother of Tierney (Brandon) WIlliams, Troy Phillips, Tyler (Mary Grace) Phillips and Drew (Kyle) Phillips; loving Mimi to Talia Lambing, Braun Lamone, Tannin Williams, Clara Lee Phillips, Levi Phillips, Micah Phillips, Jashun Robinson and Kyrie Meissner Phillips. She was preceded in death by her son Troy Phillips, her sister Rachel Collier and her parents Bruce and Carol Collier. She is also survived by her siblings Holly (Keith) Dierberg and Brian (Bonnie) Collier.

Suzanne’s generosity and love were quite apparent to anyone who had the honor of knowing her. She will be dearly missed.
