A life of service, family and simple pleasures is celebrated in the memory of Thomas Richard Scriven, 75 who passed away surrounded by family at home on September 1, 2026 in LaPlata, Missouri.
Born on June 20, 1951 in Corning, New York.
Thomas was the son of Harry William and Waltraud Sophia ( Buhs) Scriven of Horseheads, New York.
He gave 23years of service to his Country, beginning with three and a half years in the United States Army, and completing the remainder of his Career in the United States Navy. That long commitment stands as an important part of his life’s story and of how he will be remembered.
Alongside his years in Uniform, he valued the people closest to him and every joys that made life meaningful. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and for the steady way he carried out his years of military service and thirty years of driving truck across country. He enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time outdoors, he took pleasure in old western movies and crime shows. These familiar interests helped shape many moments that those who knew him will continue to remember him with appreciation.
Thomas is survived by his daughters, Misty(Destin) Gardner of Fairmount, Missouri, Michelle(Chris) Marx of Fayetteville, New York, and Nancy Pearson of Horseheads, New York. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, four sisters, one brother, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his baby daughter Krista Marie in 1980, his wife of 46 years Jeri Lou(Head) in 2023, his parents and two sisters.
Thomas’s life is honored with gratitude for his years of service, commitment to family and quiet happiness he found in the things he loved.
A small private family service at home will be held per his wishes and a grave side service with his military honors TBD.
