A self-employed handyman by trade, Joe’s work took him to many new places where he was known for his skill in handling odd jobs with a dependable and capable spirit. Yet it was his free-spirited nature that truly set him apart. Always eager to explore, he found joy in traveling and discovering new landscapes and cultures.

Joe was a passionate outdoorsman who adored fishing and rock hunting, pursuits that allowed him to connect deeply with nature. His fascination with history and culture was expressed through his collection of Native American artifacts, a testament to his respect and appreciation for indigenous heritage. Additionally, Joe enjoyed indulging in cowboy and western shows, embracing a lifestyle and history that resonated with his spirited personality.

Born to Virgil and Mable (Davis) McFarland, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, as well as his brothers Harold, Herschel, Charles, and three infant brothers. He is survived by his cherished siblings: sisters Pearl Rodriguez, Helen Neville, Linda Young, Loretta McFarland, and Wanda Downing, along with his brother Wayne Sanders, all of whom carry forward his memory with love.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together and honor the legacy of a man whose life was as rich and varied as the landscapes he so loved to explore.
